What our Preps to Year 6 can offer your child
Our P-6 Sub School currently consists of eleven classes with a steady enrolment of around 250 students and 15 teachers, plus teacher aides and an Assistant Principal.
Our staff are dedicated to actively developing the skills, knowledge and attitudes of students, to their maximum potential. We pride ourselves in understanding our students, both academically and on wellbeing level.
Our curriculum program includes specialist sessions in the areas of Physical Education, Art, Language (Japanese) and STEaM (Science Technology Engineering Arts Mathematics). In Years P-4, we incorporate I-Pads into Literacy and Numeracy and for research in Science and Theme studies. In 2021, we are planning on developing a laptop program for Year 5 and 6 students, using the Office 365 suite.
Our Sub School provides a wide variety of additional support and extension programs including Sounds Write (literacy), Perceptual Motor Program (PMP – develops motor skills), Choral Speaking and Debating at the Warrnambool Eisteddfod (public speaking), Oral Language support, Math Olympiad (year 5-6 extension) and a camp program at Years 3 to 6.
Student leadership and agency is promoted though the House Captain and Vice-Captain roles, Junior School Council and Student Congress involvement. Our P-12 Leading teacher in Student programs works across both Sub Schools promoting P-12 opportunities for students to feedback and celebrate our achievements.
Our P-6 Sub School is committed to maintaining strong connections with our community, and participate in various TAP (Timboon Agricultural Program) initiatives, as well as a wide range of excursions to enhance student learning with real life experience.
All staff value the development of positive partnerships with our parents and wider school community. We actively encourage parent participation in many school activities, including as classroom helpers, PMP assistants, helpers at sports days and excursions.
