Year 7-10 Food Technology provides a range of elective subjects over Years 7-8 and 9-10. Students are able to work through the design process to create design solutions by working through design briefs. Student are able to select subjects that run over a semester which each have different themes or focusses.
Students are supported whilst working through the design process; investigating, exploring ideas and options suitable for recipe creation, generating, make choices about suitable of productions, producing, use a range of tools and equipment correctly and safely to produce a range of recipes with care and knowledge of Australian Guide to Healthy Eating and Healthy Eating Guidelines, evaluating, using structured sensory and skill based evaluation tools to reflect on productions, planning and managing, students plan for productions, selecting recipes ordering food, working individually and in teams, considering quantities, costs, skills, equipment and time.
Food Technology elective subjects leads to VCE Food Studies Units 1-4 and VET Certificate II in Hospitality.
